HISTORICALLY YOURS

The Second Continental Congress opened on May 10, 1775, in Philadelphia, shortly after the Battles of Lexington and Concord. Only twelve colonies had been represented at the First Continental Congress but this time Georgia overrode the Loyalists and sent delegates. The Congress continued to meet until March 1, 1781, when their newly created government was ratified by all thirteen colonies.

Local graduate returns for second book signing

“Tucked deep in a remote valley with only one road in and one road out, Camp NoTech is the perfect escape from screens, noise, and the modern world. For one unplugged summer, kids reconnect with nature while their phones stay locked away. But once the campers leave, the counselors throw their legendary end-of-summer party...the absolute horror begins.”

Calling all Rock Stars!

During the past three years, Rock Stars have been instrumental in the success of the Sippin’ Strollin’ Rockin’ & Rollin’ community celebrations that have brought more than 500 people to Downtown Boonville each year. These Rock Star supporters, who donate $250 to support the project, have been the foundation and backbone of a project that provides not only a festive event, but also an opportunity to showcase the Boonville community. Co-sponsored by the Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of the Library for the Boonslick Regional Library–Cooper County Branch, proceeds of more than $40,000 generated by these events have been equally divided and benefited both Chamber projects and the Library’s relocation to its soon-to-be new home on the Kemper Campus. This year, Sippin’ Strollin’ Rockin’ & Rollin’ will be held on Saturday, October 18th, rain or shine. The Mercantile has been reserved as an indoor location in case of inclement weather.
