Mane Event: Spring Training – Spend part of Mother’s Day weekend May 10 - May 11 learning how Clydesdales train to become part of a traveling hitch. This limited-time experience features a gelding training hitch demonstration and an up-close look at the trailers and trucks that transport the team nationwide plus meet-and-greets with mares, stallions and the new foals. Enjoy local food trucks and music! Tickets are $30, guests 2 and under are free.

Blackwater unveils “Railroad Time Pavilion” at May Fest, honoring Missouri’s role in standardized timekeeping

The historic railroad town of Blackwater will roll out the red carpet for visitors and locals alike on Saturday, May 10, during its annual May Fest, a celebration of community, small-town charm, and historic preservation. The highlight of this year’s event is the grand unveiling and ribbon cutting of the Railroad Time Pavilion, a cast-iron gazebo and interpretive memorial honoring Missouri’s role in the creation of Standardized Time.

Local first responders complete Peer Support Certification to tackle job-related trauma

On Wednesday, April 30, 26 first responders from Cooper, Howard, and Pettis counties completed their Peer Support Team Members certification through the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc. (ICISF). This certification equips them with specialized training in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), a vital resource for addressing the mental and emotional toll of high-risk, high-stress emergency work.

BRLMOBILE2GO spring outreach schedule

Boonslick Regional Library’s Outreach Services, BRLMobile2GO, provides outreach to Pettis, Benton and Cooper counties to residents who are not able to visit a library location, including senior centers, day cares, schools, community centers and remote areas. BRL2GO provides free Wi-Fi access to rural communities, brings books to community centers, schools and rural areas, delivers books on a schedule each month, brings specifically requested titles or a new collection at each visit, and provides all Outreach Services free of charge.
