MoDOT extends weight allowance for truckloads of aggregate used in flood relief and levee repair

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced another extension of an allowance for heavier-than-normal truckloads of rock, sand and gravel on Missouri highways for flood relief, levees and other public infrastructure flood repair. The waiver allows private and for-hire motor carriers to haul up to 10% more than their licensed weight on Missouri highways.

Cooper County Detention Center has inmate pass away

On 5/18/2025, an inmate in the Cooper County Detention Center became unresponsive and not breathing. Life saving measures were performed by staff, along with law enforcement and EMS, who arrived a short time later. Despite the efforts to revive the inmate, the individual was pronounced deceased. The Cooper County Coroner’s Office along with the Boonville Police Department were requested to do an investigation into the incident. An autopsy was performed by the Boone County Medical Examiners Office. More information will be released when it is obtained.

Farmers market nutrition programs underway

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. –The Missouri Department of Agriculture has launched the Missouri Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (WICFMNP) for the 2025 season. Both programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service and assist low-income recipients in obtaining fresh Missouri Grown produce.
