MoDOT encourages extra caution ahead of busiest construction season ever this summer

JEFFERSON CITY – As Memorial Day approaches and Missourians ramp up their summer travels, the Missouri Department of Transportation is urging drivers to plan ahead, use good judgment and be patient, as there are more work zones than ever across the state this construction season. Distracted driving, impaired driving, excessive speeds, and not wearing seat belts are just a few of the concerns that may accompany the increased Memorial Day weekend traffic. In Missouri, 10 people were killed and 83 were seriously injured in crashes over the Memorial Day holiday last year. MoDOT officials would like that number to be zero for the 2025 holiday.

Library fundraiser “Change for Chairs” expands

Fundraising efforts to provide furnishings for the Library’s soon-to-be new home on the Historic Kemper Campus received a tremendous boost during the “May on Main” event on May 10 in Downtown Boonville. At the event, the Friends of the Library launched their fundraising effort to provide a way for everyone to know how important donations of any amount helps raise funds for the relocation of the Library to its new home. Structural and renovation work on the building is nearly complete, but donations are needed to provide furniture and furnishings for a building that is more than twice the size as the current Library.
