On 8/17/2025, at about 0730 hours, Cooper County deputies and MSHP troopers were dispatched to an address on Hwy 135 south of Martinsville for a possible armed intruder inside of the residence. The owner of the residence was able to exit the residence, but an unknown male subject was still inside his residence.

Boonslick Regional Library’s Outreach Services, BRLMobile2GO, provides outreach to Pettis, Benton and Cooper counties to residents who are not able to visit a library location, including senior centers, day cares, schools, community centers and remote areas. BRL2GO provides free Wi-Fi access to rural communities, brings books to community centers, schools and rural areas, delivers books on a schedule each month, brings specifically requested titles or a new collection at each visit, and provides all Outreach Services free of charge. Bunceton Federated Church hosted their annual Back-to-School ice cream social on August 10th. Students were able to pick up needed supplies for the new school year while enjoying ice cream. Teachers were there to visit with their students and classmates enjoyed visiting with each other.
