Almost a full house celebrated the season listening to pieces performed by the Thespian Hall Conservatory Band, sponsored by the Friends of Historic Boonville.
Sleigh Ride was the opening number for the concert that featured Dori Waggaoner and Kate Farris on the flutes, Melissa Edwards on the oboe, Kim Foley on the bassoon, Steve Litwiller, Karen Kirby, John Patterson and Erin Johnson on the clarinet, Kim Pirtle and Eric Cooper on the bass clarinet, Brad Heckman on the alto clarinet, Paul Copenhaver, Adam Matejek, Jeff Miner and Steven Fair on the trumpet, Kelley Head, Lisa Sattenspiel Tanner and Warner Bailey on the horn, Larry Bennett, Mark Lewis and Phil Wood on the trombone. Alex Franklin played the baritone while Kyle Donnelly played the tuba. Rich Oberto and Pearse Hutson were both on percussion while Ester Enderle was the guest conductor during the singing of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus.
Other numbers included Winter Wonderland, Paul McCarthy’s Wonderful Christmas Time and a guest appearance by Santa Claus after the audience sang the Hallelujah Chorus.
Ken Askren (Master of Ceremonies), gave a brief history of the piece before it was performed.
The band is made up of professional musicians from Boonville, Columbia, Moberly, Mexico, Fayette and Macon. Some are members of Boonville’s own Sauerkraut Serenaders.
