During the monthly meeting on Wednesday the board discussed several improvements the district had completed and thanked Septagon Construction for doing such a good job in completing the tasks, especially in light of the weather issues throughout the summer.
Mike Brown of Septagon Construction briefed the board on the Hannah Cole Primary and Laura Speed Elliott cooling tower repairs. One of the major issues was the replacement of a hot water heater at Boonville High School. Under certain regulations, water must be 180 degrees when being used in the kitchen. Ficken said the faucets in the kitchen have additional means to make the water hot. Other issues regarding the hot water involve  making sure there is enough hot water for showers during practices and sporting events.
The board also approved the current bus routes for the school year. They will have to approve the routes in the spring as well.
Each board member was assigned to committees ranging from booster clubs to development groups. Members are assigned to several committees to get to know a wide range of school issues.
Further discussion regarding the Hannah Cole Primary storm shelter prompted again much thanks for Spetagon Construction. Ficken was very pleased with the progress and hopes the shelter would be complete before December.
Ficken  was also very pleased about the new preschool that just opened earlier this month. He was very pleased with enrollment and had an optimistic outlook.
