Six area veterans were welcomed back to Central Missouri after their Honor Flight took them to Washington D.C. Tuesday night.
The flight, which took more than 70 combined veterans of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, was a chance for veterans to see the war memorials in the nation’s capitol and to be welcomed home in a manner that they did not receive following the war.
One Bunceton, one Prairie Home, one New Franklin and three Boonville veterans were on the bus that was escorted by the Honor Guard. One by one, each veteran walked down the walkway into the Marriot Hotel as their service importance was announced.
Each veteran also received a loud applause as signs and waves were presented from the audience.
