Local groups have partnered up with Fireworks for Life (FFL), which recently became a 501(c)(3) organization, that helps provides assistance to cancer victims. While much of the funds support this endeavor, it also helps support other charitable organizations.
The Saints Peter and Paul Youth Group is one of the several groups who benefit from helping with the firework stand. The group will receive $500 or five percent of the gross sales. While the group will be raising funds for its own project, they will also be learning how it feels to help the community, especially individuals who have cancer.
"The group I work with is the NCYC (National Catholic Youth Conference) group. The money we raise by helping with the FFL stand helps us to get to the NCYC Conference held again in Indianapolis, Ind. this November (19-21).  The conference is held every two years," Saints Peter and Paul Church Religious Director Kris Stodgel said. "The money raised helps us to pay for conference fees, bus transportation, hotel stay and food for the time we are there. By helping with the FFL stand, we are teaching the youth to give back to the community and help raise money for worthy causes, which the FFL gives to."
Stodgel said it is a lot of work for the group, especially this year, since there are five students attending the event.
While members will be manning the stand, members also helped put up the firework stand that is located on Highway 98.
"We enlisted the help of the students who will be attending the conference, the group sponsors and the parents/families of the members. It is a lot of fun, as it gives us time to work together and get to know each other prior to our trip," Stodgel said.
Other organizations helping this year include the Knights of Columbus and Ministerial Alliance.

The fireworks tent will be open up until the fourth of July.
