Boonville Caterpillar improved to 6-3 on the season by beating Boone County National Bank by a score of 8-5 in Midget League action Saturday at Kemper park.
Boonville Caterpillar opened the game with five runs in the top-half of the first only to have BCNB rally back with three in the bottom-half of the inning and one in each of the second and fourth innings of play to tie the game at 5-all. Meanwhile, in the top-half of the fifth, Boonville Caterpillar sent across three more runs for the victory.
Trenton Schoen was the winning pitcher in the game for Boonville Caterpillar while Luis Green took the loss for BCNB. Schoen pitched two innings and struck out six batters while giving up four runs on three hits and three walks. Caleb Schneringer, Layton Barney and Lyle Christy also took the mound for Boonville Caterpillar.
For BCNB, who dropped to 2-5 on the season, Green pitched the first-three innings and struck out six batters while giving up five runs on four hits and four walks. Alec Schupp then came in and pitched two innings in relief and struck out five batters while giving up three runs on five hits.
Boonville Caterpillar also had four hits in the game, with Layton Barney collecting one triple and three RBIs. Caleb Schneringer had a single and two RBIs while Drew Rhorer and Connor Wilmsmeyer added one single each.
For BCNB, Gage Hodges had two singles while Luis Green added one triple and three RBIs and Alec Schupp with one single and one RBI.
Midget League action will continue tonight, with Boone County Bank playing Boonville Caterpillar starring at 6 p.m. Then, on Tuesday, June 9, C&R Market will take on Boone County National Bank at 6 p.m.
