The Boonville Daily News scored eight runs in the first and never looked back, beating Cooper County Land Title last night in Babe Ruth 16U softball at Rolling Hills park by a score of 13-10.
BDN, improving to 2-2 on the season, led CCL 8-5 after one, 9-6 after two and 13-6 after three before giving up four runs in the bottom-half of the fourth.
Peyton Kempf was the winning pitcher in the game for the BDN while Angela Bryant took the loss for CCL, who dropped to 2-2.
Kempf pitched all four innings and struck out six batters while giving up 10 runs on five hits and eight walks. Bryant, meanwhile, pitched all four innings for CCL and surrendered 13 runs on 10 hits and 11 walks while striking out one batter.
BDN also out-hit CCL 10-5, with Ashley LaBoube going 2-for-2 with two singles and one RBI. Ellie Monk and Breanna Childress also had two singles each while Shianne Rhorer added one home run and two RBIs, Kelsey Bishop with one single and two RBIs and Peyton Kempf and Caitlin Jones each with one single.
For CCL, Andrea Jackson had two singles while Kyla Johnson, Jasmine Watson and Josie Robb added one single and one RBI each and Kishanda Jones and Angela Bryant each with one RBI.
