Emily Schupp and Cole Meisenheimer each scored in double digits to lead the Pilot Grove boys and girls past Otterville 34-16 and 30-22, respectively, in CCAA action Monday night in Otterville.
The Lady Tigers, improving to 7-2 on the season, outscored Otterville in three out of the four quarters of play and led 10-4 after one, 20-6 at the half and 20-13 after three quarters of play. Pilot Grove also held a 14-3 advantage in the final period.
Pilot Grove coach Landon Daniel said the first of four games this week didn’t go exactly the way they wanted but a win is a win.
Schupp led the scoring attack in the game for Pilot Grove with 13 points. Melanie Wolfe chipped in seven while Kylee Sprick added six, Alexis Reuter four and Aryn Lorenz and Taylor Renfro each with two.
Otterville was led by Abby Nichols with 14.
As for the Pilot Grove boys, they actually trailed Otterville 6-5 after one and 12-9 at the half before rallying back with a 19-12 advantage in the second half for the victory.
Pilot Grove coach Derek Skaggs said the boys had a rough start coming of the weekend, but were able to adjust at halftime and get things going.
Meisenheimer had the game-high for Pilot Grove, who improved to 4-5, with 15 points. Braxton Kempf added seven, Gavin Shepherd four and Kealin Vinson and Laben Twenter each with two.
For Otterville, B. Morrison tossed in 12 points.
