Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Bucklin with Rev. Randy Festervand and Rev. Don Kable officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 in the evening.

Mark, son of Raymond and Leota (Simpson) Nickerson, was born January 26, 1948. His early years were spent growing up on the family farm north of St. Catharine.
After graduating from Bucklin High School, Mark attended Hannibal La Grange College. Mark owned and operated Mark E. Nickerson Trucking, hauling livestock and freight. Most recently he was a bus driver for Bucklin R-2 School District and also worked for Leo O’Laughlin, Inc. in Marceline.
On April 10, 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Lane. Mark and Charlotte lived and farmed on their family farm, recognized as a member of the Missouri Century Farm Club in 1993. Mark enjoyed spending time outdoors with his fondest moments being on the pond bank fishing with his grandchildren.
Mark was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a Trustee.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte, of the home; two daughters, Heather Sappington and husband, Eric, Marshall, and Amy Newman and husband, Daniel, Grain Valley; five grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, and Faith Sappington, Marshall and Jaden and Kenedi Newman, Grain Valley; one sister, Nancy Nickerson, Brookfield; one brother, Kent Nickerson, Rocklin, Calif.; two uncles, Harold Nickerson, St. Charles and Russell Nickerson, Marceline; and one aunt, Gene High, Meadville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Floy and Gladys Nickerson and Roy and Ara Simpson; and his father-in-law, Gerald Lane and his mother-in-law, Avis Lane.
