The LSE Pirates wrestling team came away with one win and one tie Wednesday night in a triangular meet at the Windsor gymnasium at Boonville High School.
While tying Moberly 11-11 in the opening round, the LSE Pirates came back in the finale against the Mexico Bulldogs by recording wins in 10 out of 14 matches for a 10-4 victory.
Mexico, meanwhile, defeated Moberly 9-7 in the other dual match.
LSE wrestling coach Jeff Francis said as the season progresses the wrestlers are getting better.  
“The matches were tough and physical,” Francis said.  “We won the matches we were supposed to and some we were not, so you have to be pleased.  We are entering the rough part of the season so we have short time to practice but these wrestlers are up for the challenge.  They are a tough group and our opponents know it.”
The LSE Pirates also had their share of wrestlers who finished the night unbeaten in the triangular. Gabe Rumbaoa had the best record for the Pirates at 4-0, followed by Christian Kosnopfal at 3-0, Klayton Anderson and Luke Rehagen each at 2-0, Alan Swires at 1-0, Andrew Kraus, Gabe Kaiser and Ricky Potter at 2-1 each, Sean White, Gavin Vollmer and Ethan VanDyke at 1-2, Colten Gatson at 0-1 and Jeffrey Davidson, Chad Northern and Adam Schneringer at 0-2.
Recording wins for the LSE Pirates in the opening round against Moberly were Ricky Potter by a 10-8 decision against Max Head, Gabe Rumbaoa by fall over Tyler Nickerson in 29 seconds, Christian Kosnopfal by fall over Andrew Wilhite in 59 seconds, Klayton Anderson with a 5-0 decision over Kristopher Samuels, Luke Rehagen with a fall over Riley White in 1:30, Ethan VanDyke by fall over Austin Baron in 43 seconds, Sean White by fall over Tylend Jones in 3:22, Kosnopfal by fall over Taylor Fletcher in 6 seconds, Rumbaoa by fall over Brantly Carr in 8 seconds, Alan Swires by fall over Cameron Acton in 17 seconds, and Andrew Kraus by fall over Dominick Soloman in 1:29.
In other matches, Sean White lost by fall to Chance Richards in 1:19, VanDyke lost by a fall to Chance Landis in 2:03, Kraus lost by a fall to Blake Martin in 13 seconds, Gavin Vollmer lost by a fall to Alex Hull in 3:12, Jeffrey Davidson lost by a fall to Jason West in 35 seconds, Colten Gatson lost by a fall to Jacob Fisher in 3:27, Chad Northern lost 17-3 to Gage Shepard, Ricky Potter lost by fall to Luke Vitt in 1:13, Jeffrey Davidson lose by a fall to Chase Hutchings in 24 seconds and Gabe Kaiser lost by a fall to Kyler Guthrie in 3:14.
In the match against Mexico, Rumbaoa opened the match with a 4-2 decision over Terrese Aaron.
In other matches against the Bulldogs, Kosnopfal won by a fall over Vinny Vitale in 30 seconds, Kraus won 12-8 over Tristan Jones, Vollmer won by a fall over Matthew Baker in 57 seconds, Potter won by a fall over Dalyn Feigenspan in 2:39, Kaiser won 14-0 over Steven Johnson, Anderson won by a fall over Dylan Nichols in 2:13, Rehagen won by a fall over Jaeden Potterbaum in 1:26, Rumbaoa won by a fall over Matthew Whitesides in 1:21 and Kaiser won by a fall over Steven Owings in 46 seconds.
In other matches, Schneringer lost 5-0 against Jake Walker, Northern lost by fall to Kellen Ekern in 58 seconds, White lose by fall to Hale Fuemmeler in 43 seconds and Gavin Vollmer lost 14-0 to Devin Potter Logerman.
The LSE Pirates wrestling team will compete in a 10-team tournament Saturday at Moberly.
