Boonville Caterpillar held off a rally by C&R Market in the final inning for a 8-7 win Wednesday night in Midget League action at Kemper park.
Boonville Caterpillar, 8-5 on the season, opened the game with three runs in the bottom-half of the first and then sent four runs across in the second to make it 7-0. Meanwhile, in the third and fourth innings of play, C&R Market rallied back with four and three runs, respectively, to tie the game at 7-all. Unfortunately for C&R Market, Caterpillar had the last at-bat and made the most of the opportunity with one run for the victory.
Isaiah Hauptmann was the winning pitcher in the game for Caterpillar while Connor Thoma took the loss for C&R Market, who dropped to 5-8 overall.
Hauptmann pitched one inning in relief of starter Austin Schuster and gave up three runs on four walks while striking out one. Thoma, meanwhile, pitched two innings in relief of starter Michael Bullard and surrendered four runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three.
Caterpillar also out-hit C&R Market 6-0, with Ethan Watson going 2-for-3 with a double, home run and two RBIs. Alex Elliott had two singles while Austin Schuster added one triple and two RBIs and Austin Rice with one single.
C&R Market had no hits in the ballgame.
