Thoma and Fuemmeler Furniture Refinishings both had something in common last night in Babe Ruth 14U softball at Rolling Hills park.
While both teams closed out the season last night, they were also victorious with Thoma defeated Nordyne 13-5 and FFR prevailing over A-Bow-K by a score of 17-4.
Thoma, who closed out the season at 10-2 overall, led Nordyne 6-2 after one and 9-5 after three. Meanwhile, in the fourth, Thoma exploded for seven more runs to win by eight.
Kursten Leonard was the winning pitcher in the game for Thoma while Kyla Johnson took the loss for Nordyne, who finished the season at 5-7 overall.
Leonard pitched all four innings and struck out 10 batters while giving up five runs on three hits and three walks.
For Nordyne, Kyla Johnson pitched one inning and issued four runs on one hit and two walks. Peyton Kempf then came in and pitched two innings in relief and allowed nine runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four. Then, to finish the game, Andrea Jackson pitched one inning and yielded one hit while striking out one.
Thoma also out-hit Nordyne 8-3, with  Kishanda Jones going 2-for-3 with two singles and one RBI. Shianne Rhorer was 1-for-1 with a home run and one RBI while Zoe Coffelt and Jasmine Watson added one single and two RBIs each, Kyra Perkins with a RBI-single and Kursten Leonard and Sierra Key each with one single.
For Nordyne, Kyla Johnson went 1-for-1 with a triple and one RBI while Andrea Jackson added one double and Peyton Kempf with one single.
In the nightcap, FFR broke a scoreless tie after one by pushing across three runs in the top-half of the second to go up 3-0. Then, after A-Bow-K plated one run in the bottom-half of the second, FFR came back and broke the game wide open with 12 runs in the third and two again in the fourth to make it 17-1. A-Bow-K then sent across three runs in the bottom-half of the fourth to closeout the scoring.
Autumn Fuemmeler was the winning pitcher in the game for FFR, 7-5 on the season, while Cheyenne Schuster took the loss for A-Bow-K, who dropped to 9-3.
Fuemmeler pitched all four innings and struck out four batters while giving up four runs on three hits and four walks. Schuster, meanwhile, pitched all four innings for A-Bow-K and surrendered 17 runs on 13 hits and six walks while striking out seven.
FFR also out-hit A-Bow-K 13-3, with Madolyn Stodgel going 3-for-4 with a single, double, triple and four RBIs. Stephanie Kempf was also 3-for-4 with a single, double, triple and one RBI while Autumn Fuemmeler added a single and one triple, Renee Baker with two singles, Courtney Marsh with a RBI-double, Taylor Concannon with a RBI-single and Ella Reisinger with one single.
For A-Bow-K, Taylor Fisher had one single and one RBI while Kerigan Samer and Hannah Gross each had one single and Cheyenne Schuster with one RBI.
