Boonville junior Sarah Ellebracht found out what it takes to compete at the next level over the weekend while participating in the Missouri State Track & Field Championships in Jefferson City.
With 16 vaulters competing on Saturday, Ellebracht finished in a tie for 12th place.
Boonville Lady Pirates track coach Melissa Baker said the starting height in the pole vault was 9’-6” while Ellebracht’s PR for the season was 8’-9”.
“Sarah attempted the school record of 9’-6”,” Baker said. “Her second jump was her best jump, but she knocked off the bar on the way down. I am proud of Sarah and her dedication to this event. She got a taste of the state track meet and hopes to return next year for her senior year.”
Baker said assistant coach Jack McCush did a great job coaching and improving Ellebracht’s technique. Baker also commented that Ellebracht plans on attending a couple of pole vault camps this summer.
“As a coach it is always a great end to a season to get an athlete to the state track meet,” Baker said.
