The Prairie Home Lady Panthers softball team had a tough going Monday at home against the Tipton Lady Cardinals while losing 16-0 in five innings.
The Lady Panthers, dropping to 4-12 on the season, gave up four runs in each of the first-two innings and then surrendered three more runs in the third and five in the fifth.
Prairie Home coach Glenda Scott said freshman pitcher Makayla Zey did a great job against tough hitters. "Kendra Stinson had a great it," Scott said. "It was good for us to see fast controlled pitching before districts. We hit the ball but it was always at someone. After we settled down we played good defense late in the game."
In five innings pitched, Zey gave up 16 runs, eight earned, on 13 hits and five walks while striking out four.
Prairie Home also committed eight errors on defense.
Norman picked up the win on the mound for Tipton by giving up just two hits while striking out 11 batters.
Kendra Stinson had the only extra base hit in the game for Prairie Home, being a triple, while Ally Small finished the game with one single.
For Tipton, Angela Petree had two singles and one triple while Jesse Petree, Hailey Koechner and Ashley Jones added two singles each, Norman with a home run and Ashley Hayworth and Ashton Pace with one single each.
