Helped by nice weather, the Santa Fe Trail Days saw its largest turnout in years over the last weekend. Commemorating the Santa Fe Trail which opened almost 200 years ago, the gathering put together an eclectic mix of frog races, live bands, BBQ and princess contests.
The Chili contest was a favorite and the beer garden was hopping. Classic cars were on display in a row of nostalgia. One of the highlights is always is the Prince and Princess contest, which took place on Friday night. Baby winners were Jackson Dirham and Kylee Fizer. Drake Clark took the Prince award, while the Princess prize went to Trinity Kelley. Rounding out the royal court was Layne Chenault as Queen and Jadyn Burch as King. With so many cute kids in the castle, it was hard not to give awards to all of them.
Folks who went to the Fe happily reported a larger variety of booths, games and food vendors. Estimated attendance was just north of 500, while a great time was had by all.
