Sunday June 24 will see Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church dedicate a newly completed multipurpose facility. The facility, in addition to its new gymnasium, will house a stage, locker rooms, a mezzanine level and restrooms. Its completion is considered phase two of five in a long-range construction and renovation vision for Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The event will take place at 4:00 p.m.

John Gaydos, Bishop of the Diocese of Jefferson City, will be on hand to bless and dedicate the building to the school's mission of Christian formation. A dinner will be hosted by the parish for members following the ceremony in the church hall. Incorporated into the event will be the annual celebration of the patron saints of the Parish, St. Peter and St. Paul. The private school enrolls some 204 students and employs 12 teachers.

"This has been years in the making – and as anyone can see, this is a beautiful facility. It doesn't get much better than this," said Alan Lammers, Principal.

Construction began in July of 2011. Several years of planning and fundraising were involved. The expansion plan was initiated in 2009 when its previous gymnasium, along with its stage area, was renovated to create a new kitchen, cafeteria and early childhood center. Plans for a new parking lot are currently under way, as are plans to renovate the existing school building.

"We're not building this for a place to play basketball. This facility, and all the other renovations that have or will take place, are being made to ensure that the next generation can have access to a top of the line Catholic education," Lammers said.

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School is located at 502 7th Street. For more information, please call 882-2589 or email Alan Lammers at alammers@ssppschool.net
