UMB Bank out-hit and out-pitched Alliant Bank in both games last night in Senior Babe Ruth and that proved to be the difference in a doubleheader sweep by the scores of 13-1 and 6-1.


UMB Bank out-hit and out-pitched Alliant Bank in both games last night in Senior Babe Ruth and that proved to be the difference in a doubleheader sweep by the scores of 13-1 and 6-1.

UMB Bank, 4-0 on the season, finished the first game out-hitting Alliant Bank 13-7 with Kyle VanderLinden and John Reese giving up just one run on seven hits. Meanwhile, in the nightcap, UMB Bank out-hit Alliant Bank 6-2 with Jalen Poindexter and Jeremy Davis again combining to give up only one run on two hits.
But that’s not all. UMB Bank also led Alliant Bank from start to finish in both ballgames.

In Game 1, UMB Bank opened the game with one run in the first and then sent two runs across in the third, one again in each of the fourth and fifth innings of play and six in the sixth to make it 11-0. Meanwhile, after Alliant Bank scored its only run of the ballgame in the bottom-half of the sixth, UMB Bank came back and sent two runs across in the seventh for the victory.

Kyle VanderLinden picked up the win on the mound for UMB Bank while Chase Snapp took the loss for Alliant Bank. VanderLinden pitched the first-three innings and struck out five batters while giving up four hits and one walk. John Reese then came in and pitched four innings in relief and allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out five.

For Alliant Bank, Snapp started the game and pitched 5 1/3 innings and surrendered nine runs on 10 hits and four walks while striking out seven. Colt Melling then came in and pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief and issued four runs on three hits while striking out two.

Reese also led the hitting attack in the game for UMB Bank, going 2-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBIs.

Jalen Poindexter was 2-for-3 with a single, double and two RBIs while Kyle VanderLinden added a single and a double, Jeremy Davis with two singles, Mitchell Hackman with one triple, Jacob Francis with one double, Sean Lorenz and Andrew Kueny each with a RBI-single and Kenny Edwards with one single.

For Alliant Bank, Andrew Broyhill went 2-for-2 with a single and a double while John Watson added two singles, Grant Davis with one triple and Nate Paris and Chase Snapp each with one single.

In the nightcap, UMB Bank again jumped out on top to stay by pushing across three runs in the first, two again in the third and one in the sixth to make it 6-0. Meanwhile, in the seventh inning, Alliant Bank avoided the shutout by pushing across one run.

Jalen Poindexter picked up the win on the mound for UMB?Bank while Cass Quinlan took the loss for Alliant Bank, who dropped to 1-4 on the season. Poindexter pitched the first-five innings and struck out six batters while giving up one hit and four walks. Jeremy Davis then came in and pitched two innings in relief and surrendered one run on one hit and one walk while striking out two.

For Alliant Bank, Quinlan pitched the first-four innings and issued five runs on four hits and five walks while striking out five. Wes Davis then came in and pitched two innings in relief and yielded one run on two hits and one walk.

Kenny Edwards led the hitting attack in the game for UMB?Bank with two singles while Jeremy Davis tripled and Jalen Poindexter, Sean Lorenz and Andrew Kueny each singled.

Andrew Broyhill had both of the team’s hits in the game for Alliant Bank, being singles.
