Boonville Athletic Director Chris Shikles said the Boonville R-1 School Board approved the design of a new scoreboard Wednesday night at its monthly meeting.

Shikles said the multi-use scoreboard will be purchased from Daktronics and will be 21 feet high by 25 feet wide.

“This scoreboard will be built in partnership with the Boonville Pirate Booster Club and the nine sponsors who will be advertising,” Shikles said.

Shikles said sponsors will have advertising on the front of the scoreboard, however, the advertising will be on a 3-4 year agreement.

The cost of the scoreboard is $31,673 and will include new play clocks and installation at the BHS Sports Complex.

Shikles said delivery of the new scoreboard will occur in 6-8 weeks and will be completed in time for the fall football and boys soccer season.

Impact Sign and Lighting out of Sedalia will be putting up the new scoreboard sometime in June, according to Shikles.

“I really appreciate all the hard work that the booster club has put into the scoreboard project,” Shikles said. “The scoreboard went from a strictly football scoreboard to a multi-use scoreboard for football and soccer which we haven’t been able to do in the past with the old scoreboard. In four years when the club sells the advertising again, that money will go directly into the booster club that will help serve all of the athletic programs at Boonville High School.”
