In several sentences, please explain why you decided to get involved with public safety?

At first it was to just fight fire, but as I learned more, it became more of a way to protect and serve the people and anything else that came up. You never really know what you're going to get into.

Who inspires you and how?

Past fire chief Van-Warrick

What are the greatest challenges in your field?

Finding time to do things with your family. It's hard when you have to miss a birthday party, a big holiday.

What advice can you offer for someone who wants to go into public safety?

Stay in school. Every class you take in school has something to do with firefighting.

What is something about your line of work that most people don't know?

I've been in the fire service for 20 years and I still get butterflies when we have a big fire.

What is a memorable moment in your career and why?

Fighting the three fires that we have had downtown on Main Street. Being able to stop and contain the fires to one or two buildings and not losing the whole block.
