Trever Huth had a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Prairie Home boys basketball team turned back Higbee last night at Prairie Home 40-38.

The Panthers, 5-6 on the season, led Higbee 6-5 after one but was outscored 12-11 in the second period with the game tied at 17-all at the half. The second half was a carbon copy of the first, with Prairie Home outscoring Higbee 12-8 in the third and the Tigers holding a 13-11 advantage in the fourth.

Gavin Walters had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds while Dillon Loesing added three points and three rebounds, Jonathan Brandes with two points and four rebounds and Colt Melling with two points, two rebounds and one steal.

For the Prairie Home girls, they defeated Higbee by a score of 61-37.

The Lady Panthers, improving to 6-5 on the season, outscored Higbee in three out of the four quarters of play and led 23-7 after one, 34-19 at the half and 46-25 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the final period, Prairie Home held a 15-12 scoring edge.

Junior Megan Morton led the Lady Panthers with 20 points along with seven rebounds, two steals and one assist. Kendra Stinson finished the game with 17 points, nine assists, five rebounds and two steals while Taylor Zey had a double-double with 14 points, 18 rebounds, two steals and one assist, Kristynn Watson with five points, two rebounds, two steals and two assists, Jessie Kennedy with four points, six rebounds and two steals and Krista Small with one point, one rebound and one assist.

For Higbee, Tori Dillion tossed in 17 points.

Senior Jacob Schuster led four players in double figures with 20 points as the Pilot Grove boys upended Westran last night at Pilot Grove.

The Tigers, improving to 11-2 on the season, led Westran 14-13 after first period’s end and then outscored the Hornets 44-37 for the rest of the game to garner the victory.

Colby Kraus had 15 points, Kendall Kraus and Brent Gerke 10 points each, Aaron Schuster with seven and Sean Lorenz with six.
