The LSE boys eighth grade basketball team raised its season record to 10-2 by turning back the Fayette Falcons last night in Fayette by a score of 65-29.


The LSE boys eighth grade basketball team raised its season record to 10-2 by turning back the Fayette Falcons last night in Fayette by a score of 65-29.

The Hawks never trailed in the game against Fayette and led 20-6 after one, 34-21 at the half and 53-23 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the final period, LSE outscored Fayette 12-6.

Josh Judd had a game-high 23 points for LSE. Gauge Sharp chipped in 17 while Dalton Hodge added nine, Austin Hulbert seven, Jordan Copeland four, Jacob McQuitty three and Eric VanderLinden with two.
Fayette was led by Kobe Allen with eight.

As for the LSE girls, they fell on the road last night against Fayette by a score of 39-30.

The Lady Hawks, dropping to 10-2 overall, trailed Fayette 8-6 after first period’s end, 13-10 at the half and 31-18 after three quarters of play before rallying back with a 14-8 scoring edge in the final period.
LSE coach Tim Edwards said this was a very frustrating game from the beginning, as the Lady Hawks were in foul trouble from the outset.

Fayette was led by Ellie Johnson with 19, Sam Reed 18 and Annaliese Moore with two.

For LSE, Morgan Edwards tallied 14, Addyson Reardon and Hannah Jones each with seven and Kylie Hohnensee with two.
