It didn’t take long for the Ss. Peter & Paul boys and girls seventh grade basketball teams to get over their losses in the Higbee Tournament on Tuesday.


With both teams taking it on the chin against Sturgeon, the Lady Warriors came back last night against Glasgow with a 20-17 victory while the Ss. Peter & Paul boys turned back Higbee by a score of 34-16.

The Ss. Peter & Paul girls, 1-1 on the season, outscored Glasgow in three out of the four quarters of play and led 7-6 after one. Meanwhile, after Glasgow rallied back with a 6-5 scoring edge in the second quarter to tie the game at 12-all, the Lady Warriors came back and held a 8-5 advantage in the final-two periods for the victory.

Havyn Monteer paced all scorers in the game for Ss. Peter & Paul with 16 points along with six steals, three rebounds and two assists. Laurel Lutz finished the game with two points, 11 rebounds, four blocked shots and three steals while Kristen Williams added two points, six rebounds and two steals, Cali Jo McAreavy with seven steals and one blocked shot, Madolyn Stodgel with two rebounds and one steal, Holly Brady with two rebounds and Emily Oerly with one steal.


As for the Ss. Peter & Paul boys, they led Higbee from start to finish by taking a 14-7 lead at the half and then outscoring the Tigers 20-9 in the final-two periods for the victory.

Bryce Fuemmeler led the scoring attack for Ss. Peter & Paul with 12 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Jady Reese had nine points, eight rebounds and two steals, while Jake Esser added four points, five rebounds and three assists, Jordan Weaver with four points, two steals and one rebound, Ely Esser with two points, three steals, one rebound and one assist, Trent Monk also with two points and Nick Simmons with one point and four rebounds.
