In CCAA action Tuesday night at Bunceton, the Panthers snapped a four-year losing skid by beating the Dragons by a score of 7-3.

In CCAA action Tuesday night at Bunceton, the Panthers snapped a four-year losing skid by beating the Dragons by a score of 7-3.

The win didn’t come easily for Prairie Home, who actually trailed 2-1 after four complete innings before rallying back with three in the fifth, one again in the sixth and two in the seventh for the victory.

Trever Huth picked up the win on the mound for Prairie Home while Austin Hein took the loss for Bunceton, who dropped to 0-3 on the season.

Colt Melling went 4-for-4 in the game for Prairie Home with four singles and one RBI. Jordan Thiessen was 2-for-3 with two singles while Trever Huth had one single and two RBIs, Riley Owens with one single and one RBI and Tyler Loesing with one single.

For Bunceton, Kyle Held went 2-for-4 with two doubles while Jacob Clevenger had a double and one RBI, Kyler Tucker with a single and one RBI and Ashton Campbell with one single.

The Prairie Home Lady Panthers softball team improved to 2-0 in the CCAA conference by turning back Bunceton Tuesday night at Bunceton.

The Lady Panthers, 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA, never trailed in the game against Bunceton and plated two runs in the second and three again in the fifth.

Junior Taylor Zey picked up the win on the mound for Prairie Home while Chelsea Emde took the loss for Bunceton, who dropped to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the CCAA.

Jessie Kennedy led the hitting attack in the game for Prairie Home with three singles and three RBIs. Kristynn Watson was 2-for-3 with a single, triple and one RBI, while Zey added two singles and one RBI, Kendra Stinson with one double and Kohlie Stock and Megan Morton each with one single.

For Bunceton, Erica Kahle and Maddy Berwanger each had one single.

Pilot Grove (BB) 6

The Pilot Grove Tigers baseball team broke a 3-3 tie after six by pushing across three runs in the top-half of the seventh for a 6-3 victory over the Harrisburg Bulldogs Tuesday night at Harrisburg.

The Tigers, improving to 3-0 on the season, trailed Harrisburg 2-0 after the first inning before rallying back with one in the second and two in the fifth. Then, after Harrisburg tied the game with one in the bottom-half of the fifth, Pilot Grove Grove came back and plated three more runs in the seventh for the victory.

Aaron Schuster was the winning pitcher in the game for Pilot Grove while Ethan Beringer took the loss for Harrisburg.

Pilot Grove also out-hit Harrisburg 8-7, with Michael Dodson going 2-for-4 with a single, a home run in the fifth and four RBIs.

Brad Dillner was 1-for-4 with a double while Trenton Young had a single and one RBI and Trevor Day, Aaron Schuster, Matthew Townlain and Kendall Kraus each with one single.

Harrisburg was led by Justin Samuels with two singles, a home run and three RBIs.

In the JV game, Pilot Grove defeated Harrisburg 10-5.

Trenton Young was the winning pitcher in the game for the Tigers and gave up five hits and three walks while striking out four. Young also went 2-for-3 at the plate with two singles. Matthew Townlain and Drew Kammerich each had a single and a double while Trevor Day and Kendall Kraus added one double each and Grant Felten with one single.

The New Franklin Bulldogs baseball team fell on the road in CAC action Tuesday night against the Cairo Bearcats by a score of 7-4.

The Bulldogs, dropping to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the CAC, led Cairo 3-1 after three complete innings but then surrendered four runs in the fourth and two again in the fifth to suffer the loss.

Freshman Tyler Hull took the loss for New Franklin and gave up seven runs (four earned)  while striking out seven.

Senior Ryan Friess went 3-for-4 with two singles, one double and one RBI while Nate Brown added three singles, Koddie Schumaker with two singles and two RBIs and Alex Holem with two singles and one RBI.

Cairo (SB) 14

The Cairo Lady Bearcats softball team broke a 4-4 tie after three by outscoring New Franklin 10-0 for the rest of the game for a 14-4 victory Tuesday night at Cairo.

The Lady Bulldogs, dropping to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the CAC, opened the game with one run in the first and three in the fourth.

Freshman Kalani Pihana took the loss on the mound for New Franklin by giving up 10 runs (eight earned)?on seven hits and nine walks while striking out two.

New Franklin also out-hit Cairo 13-12, with Sam Kircher going 3-for-4 with two singles and one double.
Kalani Pihana and Kallie Monteer each had two singles and one RBI while Aly Hundley also added two singles, Emily?Hendrix with one triple and two RBIs and Amanda Cook, Tori Schlotzhauer and Sara Montgomery each with one single.

Otterville (SB) 14

The Otterville Lady Eagles softball team scored five runs in the first-two innings and never looked back, beating the Bunceton Lady Dragons Monday night in CCAA action at Bunceton by a score of 14-6.

The Lady Dragons trailed 11-0 after 3 1/2 before rallying back with three in the fourth and two again in the fifth. Then, after Otterville plated three more runs in the sixth, Bunceton came back and tacked on one in the bottom-half of the seventh.

Hannah Stone picked up the win on the mound for Otterville while Chelsea Emde took the loss for Bunceton.

Otterville also out-hit Bunceton 12-7.

Watring, Stone, Oswald and Schoen each had two hits for the Lady Eagles.

For Bunceton, Erica Kahle went 2-for-4 with a single, triple and one RBI. Sam Brandes was 2-for-3 with a single and a double while Brittany Jones and Maddy Berwanger added one single and one RBI each and Chelsea Emde with one single.
