After 28 years teaching and 26 years coaching baseball at New Franklin High School, Jim Triebsch has decided to retire at the end of the 2023 school year. During the Bulldogs final home game Thursday night against the Sweet Springs Greyhounds, New Franklin head coach Erich Gerding honored Triebsch with a framed jersey for his dedication to the Bulldogs program. “Coach Triebsch has been a steady and influential figure in our baseball program since I was in high school,” Gerding said. “These past 15 years have been a wild, emotional, and very rewarding journey. Coaching baseball, sometimes it feels like you spend more time with your fellow coach during the season than you do with your own family. Needless to say, Coach Triebsch has helped make these past 15 years all worth it. It’s hard to comprehend we’re finally at this point. It all goes by so fast. He will be truly missed.” Coach Triebsch began with the baseball program in the spring of 1995 as a student teacher under head coach Eddie Wiemholt. That team finished 10-2. He then went on to be head coach from the fall of 1995 through the spring of 2003, where he compiled a record of 148-69, won 5 CAC championships, 2 district titles, and made a Final Four appearance in 2003. He has been an assistant coach for the New Franklin High School baseball program since the fall of 2005 where, as of 5/4/23, he has been a part of 286 Bulldog baseball victories, 3 CAC championships, 6 district championships, and one Final Four appearance. Combined, Coach Triebsch has been a part of 434 Bulldog baseball victories. He was also chosen as the 2016 Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year. Gerding said more importantly, Triebsch has been a positive and memorable influence on the lives of hundreds of students and student-athletes alike. In recognition of his service and accomplishments, Coach Triebsch threw out the first pitch against Sweet Springs. He is accompanied by Adam Harris, class of 2014. In his career at New Franklin, Adam was a part of 4 district championships and one Final Four appearance. (Submitted photo)
