With a generous donation from BTC Bank and the Boonville community, members of the Boonville Lady Pirates volleyball team presented a check for $600 to Hunter Simmons, age 11, during the Boonville-Fulton volleyball match Thursday night at the high school gymnasium. Simmons, a football player and wrestler in Boonville, was diagnosed on May 16, 2022 with acute lymphoblastic leukemias-which is an aggressive cancer. Simmons had significant treatment and surgeries since his diagnosis day and has completed his radiation round but has several rounds and different types of chemo remaining. Recently released from the hospital after a two week stay from pancreatitis, caused by one of his chemo’s, Simmons also had rhinovirus and fluid in his lungs. He fought through it like a champ, and the family recently found out that he is in remission. However, his fight will continue for three more years but in this family nobody fights alone.
