BOONVILLE – Anneta Jane Hansett, age 84, of Boonville, Missouri passed away on November 25, 2021 at the Riverdell Care Center in Boonville. There will be a graveside service for family and friends held at the Walnut Grove Cemetery, 1006 Locust St, Boonville, MO 65233 on Wednesday, December 01, 2021 at 11am. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Anneta was born August 8, 1937 to Herman and Altha Jane Rentschler Kosfeld. She was born at their home in Overton, MO and had eight brothers and sisters. Her siblings included: Joe Kosfeld, Sam Kosfeld, Pansy Rose, Mary Ann Fenton, Dottie Gerhardt, Florence Meyer, Carolyn Berry and Brookie McDowell. Carolyn is the only surviving sibling. Anneta attended Highland and Bluffton grade school and Laura Speed Elliott High School and graduated in 1955. She married Harold Gene Hansett on September 9, 1956 at the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ in Boonville Missouri. She is survived by two children, Judith Ann Hansett of Boonville, and Charles Gene Hansett of Anna TX and two grandchildren, Rebecca Matteson attending University of Missouri in Columbia MO and Andrew Matteson attending Missouri Science and Technology in Rolla, MO. Her husband Gene died on May 7, 1990.
Anneta retired from the Boonville School District where she worked 10+ years in the cafeteria. She enjoyed the children and her co-workers who kept her feeling young. She also helped her husband Gene in the daily office duties when he was the owner/editor of The Cooper County Record. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, adding personal touches with designs and special fabrics just for the recipients. She volunteered for organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the Boonslick Senior Center. She was also involved in the Boy Scouts of America as an assistant den mother. Religion was an important factor in her life. For years, Anneta sang in the church choir at the United Church of Christ and served on the Woman’s Fellowship Committee. While she was able, she was a valuable resource to neighbors, friends, and family who needed a helping hand with chores and small repairs around the house. She had a love of animals, nature, and being outdoors on long walks.
