With a soggy forecast predicted for the next 48 hours, the National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Petite Saline Creek effective until Saturday. By 8 a.m. Thursday, records showed the creek at 11.9 feet. It is expected to rise above flood stage to nearly 17 feet by early Friday morning. The flood stage for Petite Saline Creek is 16 feet.
When Missourians hear of extensive rainfalls the instinct is to ask, “How high is the water?”
Just a few hours southeast of Boonville, in Jefferson County, the spring flooding has brought on more than just soggy lawns and fields. It’s now resulting in more mosquitoes.
