The New Franklin Bulldogs baseball team had Madison’s number in CAC action Friday night at New Franklin.
While trailing 1-0 after 4 1/2 innings of play, the Bulldogs came back and exploded for five runs in the bottom-half of the fifth for a 5-2 victory.
While picking up the complete-game victory, Nate Brown struck out 11 batters and gave up two runs on three hits and three walks.
Brown also led the hitting attack for the Bulldogs with a home run and two RBIs. Tyler Hull and Zach Purvis each had a single and one RBI while Ethan Shipp and Travis Crowley also singled in the game. Alex Sears had one RBI.

The New Franklin Lady Bulldogs softball team rallied from a four-run deficit after the first inning by exploding for five runs in the bottom-half of the second but it wasn’t enough in a 12-10 loss Friday night in CAC action against the Madison Lady Panthers.
Kalani Pihana took the loss on the mound for New Franklin by giving up 12 runs (10 earned) on 10 hits and six walks while striking out five.
Senior Sam Kircher went 3-for-5 in the game for New Franklin with two singles, one double and two RBIs.
Aly Hundley had a double and three RBIs while Emily Hendrix, Kalani Pihana and Amanda Cook added one single and one RBI each. Kallie Monteer and Sara Montgomery also had one single.
Pilot Grove (BB) 12

The Pilot Grove Tigers baseball team broke a 2-2 tie after three by outscoring Higbee 10-0 over the final-two innings for a 12-2 victory Friday night in CCAA action at Pilot Grove.
Aaron Schuster picked up the complete-game victory for Pilot Grove by giving up two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out eight.
Colby Kraus was 4-for-4 in the game for the Tigers with three doubles, a home run and seven RBIs.
Taylor Acton finished the game with a single, double and two RBIs while Drew Kammerich, Aaron Schuster and Matt Townlain each had one single.
The win improved Pilot Grove’s record to 2-0 overall and in the conference.

The Prairie Home Lady Panthers softball team cut the lead to one in the top-half of the second but couldn’t get any closer while suffering a 11-1 loss in a non-conference game last thursday at Harrisburg.
Taylor Zey took the loss on the mound for Prairie Home by giving up 11 runs (six earned) on 11 hits and four walks while striking out one.
