Pilot Grove’s Little League baseball team had a great start in the Tri-County Tournament last night by beating Blackwater by a score of 9-3.

Pilot Grove, improving to 8-1 on the season, opened the game with two runs in the bottom-half of the first only to have Blackwater rally back with one in the second and one in the third to tie the game at 2-all. Meanwhile, after Pilot Grove plated another run in the bottom-half of the third to go up 3-2, Blackwater stormed back again with one in the fourth to knot the game at 3-all. But even that was short-lived as Pilot Grove came back and tacked on one run in the bottom-half of the fourth to go ahead at 4-3. Then, after holding Blackwater scoreless in its half of the fifth, Pilot Grove broke the game wide-open with five runs in the bottom-half of the inning for the victory.

Layne Hoff was the winning pitcher in the game for Pilot Grove while Eli Brown took the loss for Blackwater.
