Pilot Grove’s Junior Babe Ruth baseball team found out how the other half lives one day after beating up on Jamestown 15-8 in the Tri-County Tournament. In a seven-inning game last night at home against Tipton, Pilot Grove struggled from the start and never recovered while losing by a score of 12-9.
In the game Monday night at home against Jamestown, Pilot Grove actually trailed by a score of 2-0 after one before pushing across nine runs in the second to make it 9-2. Then, after Jamestown plated four more runs in the third, Pilot Grove came back and tacked on four runs in the bottom-half of the inning and two again in the fourth to extend the lead to 15-6. Meanwhile, after both teams failed to score in the fifth inning, Jamestown tacked on one in the sixth to end the scoring.
Pilot Grove coach Dustin Townlain said the boys played good solid ball against Jamestown despite the fact that they have been off for over a week. “We ran the bases well and played solid defense,” Townlain said.
