The LSE Hawks volleyball team accomplished two things over the weekend while competing in the LSE Volleyball Classic.

First, the Lady Hawks avenged an earlier loss in the week by beating Mexico in the opening round by the scores of 25-10, 25-20. Then, after gaining a split against Fulton in the third round 28-26, 11-25, LSE also wound up winning the championship with a record of 3-1.

Fulton finished second in the tournament of 2-2 while Mexico placed third at 1-3.

LSE coach Kristin Roberts said the girls played really well on Saturday morning. “We were glad to have to have the chance to play Mexico again after our loss to them on Tuesday,” Roberts said. “Luckily, we were able to earn the win this time. We then played Fulton for the first time this season for our second game of the tournament. After a split with Fulton, we ended up with a first-place win in the tournament. I have seen so much improvement over the last four weeks. We are really focusing on making the kill and it seems to be paying off for us.”
