Pilot Grove boys win rematch against Ss. Peter & Paul

In a rematch of the championship game in the Pilot Grove Swimming Pool Tournament last weekend, the Pilot Grove boys fifth and sixth grade basketball team made it two in a row against Ss. Peter & Paul with a 23-10 victory.


The Tigers, 8-0 on the season, outscored Ss. Peter & Paul in three out of the four quarters of play and led 4-2 after one, 10-6 at the half and 21-6 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the final period, Ss. Peter & Paul rallied back with a 4-2 scoring edge.


Mason Schlotzhauer finished the game with a double-double for Pilot Grove with 12 points and 18 rebounds. He also had two assists, one steal and one block.


Regan Meisenheimer had three points, eight rebounds, eight assists, four steals and three blocks while Joe Gerke added four points, two steals, one rebound and one assist, Ben Glenn with two points, two assists, two steals and one rebound and Jacob Twenter with two points and four rebounds.


For Ss. Peter & Paul, Jake Esser and Bryce Fuemmeler each had four points and four rebounds. Jordan Weaver finished the game with two points, three rebounds, one steal and one assist while Nick Simmons chipped in five rebounds and one steal, Nicholas Nixon with four rebounds, Ely Esser, Jacob Lauer and Jady Reese with two rebounds each and Trent Monk and Hunter Spaedy with one rebound each.


Ss. Peter & Paul (G) 27
Pilot Grove 17
The Ss. Peter & Paul girls sixth grade basketball team outscored Pilot Grove 9-0 in the first quarter and never looked back, beating the Lady Tigers last night in Pilot Grove by a score of 27-17.


The Lady Warriors led Pilot Grove 11-8 at the half and then outscored the Tigers 16-9 in the final-two periods for the victory.


Havyn Monteer led the scoring attack in the game for Ss. Peter & Paul with 11 points along with five rebounds, four assists and three steals.


Holly Brady chipped in six points, four steals and three rebounds while Cali Jo McAreavy added four points, eight steals, six rebounds and three assists, Laurel Lutz with four points, 10 rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot, Kristen Williams with two points, eight rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots, Madolyn Stodgel and Sarah Oerly each with three rebounds and Emily Oerly with two rebounds.


Blackwater (B) 35
St. Joseph Pilot Grove 29
Isaac Lorenz had a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals in a 35-29 loss last night against Blackwater in fifth and sixth grade action.


Alex Cornine paced all scorers in he game for Blackwater with 22 points.


Blackwater also led St. Joseph Pilot Grove from the opening tip-off while leading 11-4 after one, 21-9 at the half and 29-16 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the final period, the Cougars rallied back with a 13-6 scoring edge.


Trevor Smith finished the game with nine points for Blackwater while Preston Renfrow and Tyler Johnson added two points each.


Lorenz also had two assists and one blocked shot in the game for St. Joseph Pilot Grove.
Clemence Twenter added nine points, 13 rebounds and five steals while Brady Rentel chipped in four points, eight steals and seven rebounds, Aaron Gerling with four points, 10 rebounds and one steal, Grant Vollrath with two points, four rebounds and four steals, Jared Schupp with two rebounds and one steal and Parker Schuster with one rebound.


Blackwater (G) 39
St. Joseph Pilot Grove 12
Paige Renfrow had 12 points, and teammate Courtney Clardy chipped in 10 as the Blackwater girls fifth and sixth grade basketball team defeated St. Joseph Pilot Grove last night by a score of 39-12.


Blackwater opened the first half with a 27-6 lead and then outscored St. Joseph Pilot Grove 12-6 in the second half for the victory.


Jessie Luscombe tossed in nine points for Blackwater.


For St. Joseph Pilot Grove, Karsyn Kraus had six points, three rebounds and one steal.
MaKenzie Twenter finished the game with four points, four rebounds, four steals, two assists and one blocked shot, while Jenna Gerke added two points, two rebounds and two steals, Marissa Day with four rebounds and two steals, Emily Schupp with two rebounds and two steals, Maci Twenter with one rebound and one assist, Celine Dodson with one rebound and one blocked shot, Madeline Goehman and Cassie Grandestaff each with one rebound and Saramah Bailey with one assist.
