Boonville’s Andrew Broyhill, Kole Ficken, Gabe and Ben Rumbaoa represented the Eierman Elite Wrestling Club last weekend at the Missouri USA State Youth Wrestling Tournament at the Hearnes Center in Columbia.

Over 1,000 of the top wrestlers in the state competed in the tournament from 144 kids’ wrestling clubs.

Of course nobody dominated more in their weight class than Gabe Rumbaoa, who pinned all of his opponents, to win the state title in the 10-and-under, 130-pound weight class.

After a first-round bye, Rumbaoa defeated Anthony Patinsky of Nixa by fall in 2:52 and then beat Nick Duren of Fox Wrestling Club by fall in 2:47. He then bested Tyler McNutt of the St. Joseph Metro Club in Sunday’s finals in 3:47.

McNutt had been ranked first and Rumbaoa second the entire season in the MO USA Wrestling coaches chat polls. This is Rumbaoa’s second state championship and his first undefeated wrestling season at 20-0. He was the 2008 champion in the 8-and-under, 100-pound class.
