Boonville, Mo. -

With the Junior Babe Ruth title all but locked up and second place also decided, it mattered little last night that KFC played CARSTAR in the first game and Medical Arts faced off against KWRT in the nightcap.

While KFC wound up winning by a forfeit against CARSTAR, the two teams went ahead and played anyway with CARSTAR prevailing in a practice game 9-5.

Meanwhile, in the nightcap, Medical Arts rallied from a 8-7 deficit after 4 1/2 by pushing across four runs in the bottom-half of the fifth for a 11-8 victory.

As for the JBR standings, A&W wrapped up the title under head coach Scott Jackson at 13-2, followed by Potter Transport at 9-6, Kentucky Fried Chicken at 8-7, CARSTAR at 7-7, Medical Arts at 5-8 and KWRT at 2-13.

In the practice game to start the night, CARSTAR jumped out on top of KFC to stay by pushing across three runs in the top-half of the first on two walks, a balk, a wild pitch and a single by Malcom Washington.

Meanwhile, in the bottom-half of the inning, KFC plated one run on back-to-back singles by Dakota Quinlan and Jeremy Davis to cut the lead to two at 3-1.

Unfortunately for KFC, they never got any closer in the ballgame as CARSTAR came back and tacked on one run in the second on a single by Blake Gerke and a sacrifice for an RBI by Cade Price to make it 4-1. Then, after holding KFC scoreless in its half of the inning, CARSTAR came back and broke the game wide open by exploding for four runs in the third on two walks, one error, a wild pitch, a RBI-single by John Watson and a sacrifice for an RBI by Jordan Bledsoe to push the lead to 8-1.

Of course KFC didn’t go down without a fight while pushing across one run in the bottom-half of the third on one walk, a single by Cass Quinlan and a RBI-single by Caleb Hein.

Then, after CARSTAR sent across another run in the top of the fourth on one walk, one error and a RBI-single by Dyllan Crowley, KFC rallied back again with three runs in the fifth on three walks, a single by Jeremy Davis, a sacrifice fly for an RBI by Jacob Case and a RBI-single by Andrew Kueny to end the scoring.

Tanner Hulbert picked up the win on the mound for CARSTAR while Eli Sims took the loss for KFC.

Michael Trigg led the hitting attack in the game for CARSTAR with two singles and one RBI.

For KFC, Jeremy Davis had two singles and one RBI.

In the second game, KWRT opened the game with two runs in the top-half of the first on one walk, a single by Jared Oser, a sacrifice fly for an RBI by Wes Davis and a RBI-single by Tyler Spence.

But even that was short-lived as Medical Arts rallied back with two runs in the bottom-half of the first on three walks and two errors.

Meanwhile, after holding KWRT scoreless in its half of the second, Medical Arts came back and plated four more runs in the bottom half of the inning on six walks, two wild pitches, a single by Devon Hohensee and a two-RBI double by Kale Gentry to go up by a score of 6-2.

However, in the third inning, KWRT kept the close by pushing across three runs on three walks, a hit batter and a single by LaTavius Shelby to cut the lead to one at 6-5.
Meanwhile, in the bottom-half of the third, Medical Arts sent across one run on two walks, a fielder’s choice by Hohensee and a RBI-single by Kellen Kempf to go ahead 7-5.

Of course KWRT showed no quit by rallying back with two runs in the fourth to tie the game at 7-all on two walks and three errors.

Then, after holding Medical Arts scoreless in its half of the fourth, KWRT went ahead in the game by pushing across one run on two errors and a fielder’s choice by Shelby.
Unfortunately for KWRT, they never led again in the ballgame as Medical Arts rallied back with four runs in the bottom-half of the fifth on four walks and a two-RBI single by Forrest Hage for the victory.

Devon Hohensee picked up the win on the mound for Medical Arts while Wes Davis took the loss for KWRT.

Medical Arts also out-hit KWRT 5-3, with Forrest Hage collecting two singles and two RBIs.
