The Boonville Daily News raised its season record to 3-0 by turning back Sell’s Carpet last night in Cal Ripken Minor by a score of 9-6.
Sell’s Carpet, dropping to 1-2 on the season, jumped out first with one run in the top-half of the first on three walks and a single by Mason Schlotzhauer.
However, in the bottom-half of the same inning, the Boonville Daily News plated three runs on on two walks, a RBI-double by Blake Barnes and a RBI-single to right by Austin Andrews to make it 3-1.
Meanwhile, in the second inning, Sell’s Carpet rallied back with five runs on on six walks and a RBI-single over the third basemans head by Makiah Waibel to regain the lead at 6-3.
But even that was short-lived as the Boonville Daily News came back and took the lead for good by exploding for six runs in the bottom-half of the second on four walks and an inside the park home run for RBIs by Austin Andrews to make it 9-6.
The Boonville Daily News never looked back from that point on in the ballgame by holding Sell’s Carpet scoreless for the rest of the game for the victory.
In the nightcap, Huebert Brothers rallied from a two-run deficit after 3 1/2 by exploding for 10 runs in the bottom-half of the fourth for a 17-9 win over CARSTAR.
Huebert Brothers, improving to 2-0 on the season, jumped out on top with two runs in the bottom-half of the first on four walks to go up 2-0. Then, after holding CARSTAR scoreless again in its half of the second, Huebert Brothers came back and tacked on five more runs in the bottom-half of the inning on two walks, one error, an inside the park home run for RBIs by Dalton Bealmer and a two-RBI triple by Ezra Perry to make it 7-0.
