In a battle of in-two rivals, the Pilot Grove girls fifth and sixth grade basketball team defeated St. Joseph Pilot Grove on Monday in Pilot Grove by a score of 14-7.
The Lady Tigers led St. Joseph Pilot Grove 8-5 at the half but was outscored 2-0 in the third quarter to cut the lead to one at 8-7. Meanwhile, in the final period, Pilot Grove all but sealed the victory by holding a 6-0 advantage.
Racheal Lorenz paced all scorers in the game for Pilot Grove with 10 points while Kirstie Schupp and Cynthia Brumback added two points each.
For St. Joseph Pilot Grove, Mackenzie Twenter had six points, five rebounds, four steals and one blocked shot.
Marissa Day finished the game with one point, five steals, three rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot, while Celine Dodson added three rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot, Jenna Gerke with two steals and one blocked shot, Karsyn Kraus with two rebounds and Emily Schupp, Maci Twenter and Madeline Goehman with one rebound each.
