On Saturday, May 10th at Marshall High School, a total of eight athletes from the Boone’s Lick area will embark on the Class 1 Sectional 3 Track Meet with a chance to move on to the Missouri State High School Track & Field Championships in Jefferson City on May 23-24.

In order to qualify for sectionals, athletes had to place in the top four in their respective event during the district track meet held last weekend at various sites throughout the state.

In the Class 1 District 5 Track Meet last weekend at Marshall High School, New Franklin, Pilot Grove and Bunceton competed against a field of 16 teams.

In the final-team standings for the New Franklin, Wellington-Napoleon captured the title with 121 points. Glasgow finished second with 88 points, followed by Slater with 79.50 points, Hardin-Central and  Wentworth Military Academy tied with 67 points, Concordia seventh with 53 points, Smithton eighth with 38 points, Sweet Springs ninth with 29 points, Santa Fe 10th with 25 points, Bunceton 11th with 22 points, Norborne 12th with 16 points, Pilot Grove 13th with 8 points, Otterville and Malta Bend tie for 14th with 7 points and New Franklin in 16th place with 4 points.

Wellington-Napoleon also captured the title for the girls with 100.50 points. Norborne finished second with 98 points, followed by Slater with 91 points, Glasgow with 76 points, New Franklin with 64 points, Santa Fe with 61 points, Hardin-Central with 48.50 points, Concordia with 38 points, Sweet Springs with 35 points, Brunswick with 25 points, Smithton with 23 points, Bunceton with 12 points,  Otterville and Pilot Grove each with 5 points and WMA with 1 point.
