Boonville, Mo. -

Boonville's Gabe Rumbaoa, representing the Eierman Elite Wrestling Club, participated in the Excelsior Springs Youth Wrestling Tournament this past Sunday.

Gabe Rumbaoa placed second in the 10-and-under, 120 pound class, which is a step up from his usual 110 pound division.  Rumbaoa won by forfeit over Alexis Nickell of Lexington in the first round of the 8-man bracket.  He then defeated Jacob Williamson of the Titan wrestling club of Greenwood with a pin at 2:29.  In the championship round, Rumbaoa wrestled a very evenly matched contest with Matthew Schneader of Higginsville.  While leading 10-9 late in the third period, Rumbaoa was unable to maintain top control over the larger Scheader.  Schneader reversed Rumbaoa for a 2 point score with about 15 seconds remaining in the match, resulting in Rumbaoa's first defeat this season by a score of 11-10.  Rumbaoa now has a record of 15-1 for this season.
