North Central Missouri College pitcher Claire Lorenz recently signed a softball letter of intent with Lincoln University in Jefferson City. Lorenz, a graduate of Pilot Grove High School, finished the spring season last year with a record of 17-8 overall with an ERA of 2.48.

In 169 innings pitched, Lorenz gave up 89 runs (60 earned) on 159 hits and just 19 walks while striking out 138 batters. She also finished the season hitting .335 with 57 hits in 170 at-bats with 35 singles, 18 doubles, two triples and two home runs. Lorenz also drove in 26 runs and scored 44 times during the season.

North Central softball coach Max Mothersbaugh said Lorenz is an outstanding individual as well as an outstanding player. “She hits lead-off for us and does an outstanding job at that spot in the order,” Mothersbaugh said. “She gives us a lead-off hitter who gets on base and can also knock in runs. Defensively, she is our No. 1 pitcher (first-team all-region) and when she doesn’t pitch plays in the field, usually in left, and does an outstanding job. She is a complete softball player. Above and beyond softball, Claire is an outstanding person and student. She has tremendous leadership qualities. We will miss her and at the same time know that she will bring a lot to Lincoln University as a student-athlete next year.”
