Dorman, Feltens set team records in quadrangular

The Boonslick Heartland YMCA Blue Marlins swim team had another record-setting performance back on Thursday, June 5th at Marshall.


While competing against three other teams (Marshall, Sedalia and Centralia), the Blue Marlins swim team more than held their own with four team records and 53 personal bests.


As for the team records, Becca Felten had two of the four records in the 13-14 age group by placing first in the 100-yard I.M. in a time of 1:13.13 and first in the 50-yard butterfly in 33.04 seconds. Felten also took second in the 100-yard breast stroke in 1:21.16 and second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:24.18.


Sammy Dorman also competed in the 13-14 age group and set a team record by placing first in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:18.17. Dorman was also almost perfect on the night by placing first in the 50 breaststroke in 39.77 seconds, first in the 50 freestyle in 29.20 seconds, first in the 50 backstroke in 34.82 seconds and second in the 100 I.M. in 1:13.61.


Grant Felten, meanwhile, broke the final team record for Boonville while competing in the 11-12 age group by placing first in the 100-yard I.M. in 1:08.97. Felten also took first in the 50 backstroke in 33.59 seconds, first in the 50 freestyle in 27.73 seconds, first in the 50 butterfly in 33.34 seconds and first in the 50 breast stroke in 39.69 seconds.
As for the team record in the relay events, the team of Sammy Dorman, Becca Felten, Kaitlyn Krumm and Kathryn Rodman took first while competing in the 14-18 age group in the 200-yard free in a time of 2:04.08.


Blue Marlins swim coach Dickson Stauffer also awarded the Hungry Swimmer Award to Allie Hollon and Lucas Kopp. Hollon, who competed in the 9-10 age group, had five personal bests in five events by placing fourth in the 25 butterfly in 24.87 seconds, fifth in the 25 backstroke in 22.84 seconds, sixth in the 100 I.M. in 1:50.89 and seventh in both the 25 freestyle in 18.53 seconds and 25 breaststroke in 26.86 seconds.


Kopp, meanwhile, competed in both the 10-and-under age group and the 7-8 age group, and also had five personal bests by placing first in the 100 I.M. in 2:02.47 and third in the 25 backstroke in 24.78 seconds, third in the 25 freestyle in 21.31 seconds, third in the 25 butterfly in 28.34 seconds and third in the 25 breaststroke in 29.36 seconds.
