The New Franklin boys and girls basketball teams picked up conference wins Friday night at Brunswick by going different routes.


While the Lady Bulldogs won in a blowout against Brunswick 50-13, the New Franklin boys had to rally in the final period to beat the Wildcats by a score of 55-52.


New Franklin, improving to 4-1 on the season, outscored Brunswick in each of the four quarters of play and led 32-9 at the half and 45-11 after three quarters of play.


Sam Kircher had the game-high for new Franklin with 12 points along with five steals and two assists.


Brunswick was led by Angela Ostermann with seven points.

For the New Franklin boys basketball team, led led Brunswick 13-10 after first period’s end but was outscored 12-9 in the second quarter to forge a tie at 22-all. Then, after the Wildcats outscored New Franklin 12-5 in the third quarter to go up 34-27, New Franklin rallied back with a 28-18 scoring edge in the final period for the victory.


Nate Brown finished the game with 15 points, five rebounds and three steals for the Bulldogs, who improved to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in the CAC.


For Brunswick, Joe Hartman, Matt Duncan and T.C. Arnold each had 12 points.


In other games over the weekend, the Green Ridge defeated Bunceton by a score of 39-35 while Northwest of Hughesville boys turned back Bunceton 45-42.
