The Glasgow boys and girls basketball teams ventured outside of the Central Activities Conference Tuesday night while hosting the Braymer Bobcats.

While the Lady Yellowjackets defeated Braymer 59-41, the Glasgow boys used a 20-10 run in the third quarter to get by the Bobcats by a score of 48-40.

The Lady Yellowjackets, improving to 15-3 overall, could do little wrong in the first half while leading Braymer 39-21 at the break. The third quarter was all Glasgow as well as the Lady Yellowjackets outscored the Bobcats 17-8 to extend the lead to 27 at 56-29. Meanwhile, in the final period with the starters on the bench, Braymer outscored Glasgow 12-3.

Glasgow coach Molly Monnig had a very productive second quarter on the defensive and offensive side of the ball.

“We were able to force 14 turnovers that quarter,” Monnig said. “Abby Thompson had 10 points off the bench during the second quarter. Trisha McMillan shot the ball very well from all over the floor. Erin Reynolds had some very good drives and finishes at the basket. Nikki Fuemmeler had a productive night with another double-double. We were able to frustrate them with our defense in the full-court. They were taller than us in all positions, but we were able to use our quickness to our advantage. Braymer was a very physical team, and I thought that we did a good job of getting what we wanted out of every possession.”

Trisha McMillan led four players in double figures for Glasgow with 19 points and eight rebounds.
Erin Reynolds had 14 points and two rebounds, while Nikki Fuemmeler added a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, Abby Thompson with 10 points and two assists, Peyton Davis with four points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals, Lindsey Kopp with two points and Alex Davis with four assists and four steals.

Braymer was led by Sadie Watson with 19 points.

As for the Glasgow boys, they struggled to say the least against Braymer and trailed 10-7 after one and 20-15 at the half. However, in the third quarter, the Yellowjackets hit their stride by outscoring the Bobcats 20-10 to go up by five at 35-30. Glasgow never looked back from that point on in the ballgame and outscored Braymer 13-10 in the final period for the victory.

Glasgow coach Mick Cropp said this was a good win for the team coming off an emotional week. “It took us a half to get going but we played better on both ends of the court in the second half,” Cropp said.

Dillon Yung had a double-double in the game for Glasgow with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Blake Hackman chipped in 11 points for the Yellowjackets.

For Braymer, Jessie Utt tossed in 19 points.

The Glasgow boys and girls will play next on Friday, Feb. 3rd at Brunswick starting at 5 p.m.
