Boonville senior Matt Bruce joined an elite group on Wednesday after being selected to the Missouri Sports writers and Sportscasters Association All-State Football Team for the 2009 season.

Bruce, a two year starter on defense for Boonville, was a second-team selection in Class 3.
Boonville Pirates football coach Brad Parsons said it’s a great honor to be selected to the all-state team and Bruce is very deserving of the award.

“He is one of four defensive players to be named to the all-state team from Boonville since 1974,” Parsons said. “Matt had a great year and led our defense. He was a hard worker, a vocal leader and will be missed next year.”
