The St. Paul’s girls basketball team handed Pilot Grove its fifth loss of the season in overtime Tuesday night at Pilot Grove.
The Lady Tigers, dropping to 14-5 on the season, trailed St. Pauls 22-20 at the half and 37-29 after three quarters of play before rallying back with a 16-8 advantage in the final period to tie the game at 45-all. Meanwhile, in overtime, the Lady Saints outscored Pilot Grove 7-0 for the victory.
Sara Riesterer and Audrey Mehl each had 12 points in the game for St. Pauls. Louisa Mehl and Marissa Brockman tallied 10 points each.
For Pilot Grove, Whitney Wessing finished the game with 11 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists. Cassie Lorenz had a double-double in the game with 10 points, 16 rebounds and one assist while Kendra Wessing added 10 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists, Hailey Bader with five points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals, Madison Twenter with four points and four rebounds, Kellie Dillner with three points and one steal, Kerby Gerling with two points and three rebounds and Lauren Vollrath with two assists and one rebound.

The Pilot Grove boys basketball team had its 30 home-court winning streak snapped Tuesday night by losing to St. Paul’s of Concordia.
The Tigers, dropping to 16-3 on the season, never led in the game against St. Pauls and trailed 19-8 after one, 38-20 at the half and 47-36 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the final period, the Saints outscored Pilot Grove 13-10 for the victory.
Pilot Grove coach Rick Grunden said March 3rd, 2006 seems like an eternity but that is the last time the Pilot Grove boys lost at home.
Brandon Haake had 23 points and Jordan Bredehoeft 16 for St. Pauls.
For Pilot Grove, Zach Glenn tossed in 19 points and Jacob Schuster 12.
