The Lady Bulldogs, fresh off a 44-38 win Tuesday night against Sturgeon, opened the game with a 26-19 halftime lead against Fayette but couldn’t hold on as the Lady Falcons rallied back with a 31-16 advantage in the second half for the victory.
Despite the loss, which dropped New Franklin to 12-7 on the season, head coach Chris McGowan said this was a very contested game throughout. “Both teams played hard and both teams had some nice runs throughout the game,” McGowan said. “We had 24 turnovers and were 10 of 22 from the free throw line. Certainly we need to be better in both of those areas in order to win games like this.”

While the loss dropped New Franklin to 7-12 on the season, head coach Jim Schlotzhauer said his team gave a much improved effort over Tuesday night’s effort against Sturgeon.
“We competed the entire night,” Schlotzhauer said. “Fayette made a couple of runs and were able to capitalize on our mistakes. Marshall was tough to stop. He played much better than in our first meeting.”
Bruce Marshall led the scoring attack in the game for Fayette, who also improved to 13-7, with 35 points.
Tyler White had the team-high for New Franklin with 16 while Tanner White added 14, Ryley Lyons six, Alex Holem five, Dalton Welbern four and Tyler Hull with two.
