The Boonville Lady Pirates golf team finished fourth out of 12 teams Thursday in the Battle Invitational at Lake of the Woods Golf Course in Columbia.
Boonville Lady Pirates golf coach Rob VanderLinden said this was a different style of golf tournament and scoring and stats are different than normal.
“All the girls play partner golf with a teammate, and each set of partners play a different style of partner golf,” VanderLinden said. “There were 12 schools competing and Boonville finished fourth overall in the team scoring. Overall, these types of tournaments are fun for the girls to play in. They very rarely get to play with their teammates so this give them a chance to do that. It is a fun way to play competitive golf.”
St. Dominic captured first in the team standings with a score of 257. Father Tolton finished second at 258, followed by Timberland at 289 and Boonville at 294.
In the alternate shot format, the team of Olivia Reynolds and Alisa Newbold placed fourth overall with a score of 107.
In the best ball format, the team of Mille Dorman and Jalyn Schnetzler finished in seven place with a score of 97. Meanwhile, in the scramble format, the team of Rayghen Skoufos and Iris Ehrengren shot a score of 90 while the team of Lily Terrell and Julianne Bromagen finished with a score of 115.
Par at Lake of the Woods Golf Course is 71.
Note: The 3rd annual Lady Pirate Classic has been rescheduled for September 21 at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville. VanderLinden said there are currently 11 schools scheduled to play in the tournament.
